Judge Daniel O. Tiernan has committed his entire career to serving the people of Cook County through his efforts in various positions. He has gained invaluable experience in the Cook County court system and the Illinois appellate process. An experienced litigator, he firmly believes he is an ideal candidate for the position of Circuit Court Judge.
Judge Tiernan served as a Cook County State’s Attorney from 1995 to 2007. As a prosecutor, he tried hundreds of bench trials and dozens of jury trials. Judge Tiernan also wrote numerous appellate briefs and argued successfully in front of the Appellate Court.
From 2007 through 2015, Judge Tiernan was a managing partner at Delgado & Tiernan, PC, a law firm specializing in criminal defense. In addition, he successfully handled cases concerning probate, real estate, and immigration matters.
In January 2016, he joined the Office of the Cook County Independent Inspector General to serve the citizens of Cook County by conducting investigations into allegations of fraud, waste, mismanagement, and criminal activity at the county level. During these investigations he analyzed witnesses’ credibility and assessed evidence in relation to contracts, collective bargaining agreements, administrative, state, and federal law.
Judge Tiernan was found Qualified, Highly Qualified, Recommended or Highly Recommended by all the evaluating bar associations.
